Family Medicine/Family Practice, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Loan forgiveness may be granted at the rate of $10,000 for each period of 12 consecutive calendar months.

Who Can Apply:

Must attend any West Virginia medical schools (Marshall University SOM, West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine or West Virginia University SOM) in program leading to an MD or DO.


Repayment/Scholarship terms:

The first payment will be due one year following the date that the borrower ceases to be a full-time student at a school of medicine that participates in this program with a maximum of 10 years to repay the loan (principal and interest).

Amount of repayment per year of service:

The maximum annual loan amount can not exceed $10,000.

How to Apply:

Applications must be obtained from the Financial Aid Office of a participating educational institution.
