Eligible Specialties:

Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, General Pediatrics, General Internal Pediatrics, General Ob/Gyn, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Geriatrics.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Practice medicine in a qualified rural community in Arkansas. One year of service for each year of funding.

Who Can Apply:

Any bona fide resident of Arkansas who is enrolled, or accepted for admission, (including Alternates) at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine.


January 5th of each year

Repayment/Scholarship terms:

For each year that a student participates (up to four years), they receive $12,000.00 toward their tuition (total $48,000.00). It is repaid through a service commitment.

Amount of repayment per year of service:

For each year of service in a qualified community, $12,000.00 along with that year’s accrued interest is converted to a scholarship .
