Eligible Specialties:

Allopathic physician, osteopathic physician, physician assistants, advanced practice nurses, allied health care providers, pediatricians, optometrists, and dentists.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Health professional must make a two year service commitment to practice full-time in a designated medical shortage area in New Mexico.

Who Can Apply:

US citizens, New Mexico resident.

Deadline(s):

The HPLRP application opens every year on March 15th and closes May 1st.

Repayment/Scholarship terms:

Amount of repayment per year of service:

The maximum award is $25,000 per year. For those working in a federal Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) awards up to $35,000.00 per year are allowable. However, the award may depend on the applicants amount of student loan debt and may depend on available funding.

How to Apply:

The application will be available on the web site starting March 15th and will be removed from the site on the closing date of May 1st.
