Eligible Specialties:

All health professions are eligible to apply to the LRP. However, physicians and nurses have historically received the highest priority for selection into the program.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Award recipients agree to a two-year service commitment to practice in health facilities serving American Indian and Alaska Native communities.

Who Can Apply:

U.S. Citizens; and must have a degree in medicine, osteopathy, dentistry or other health profession.

Deadline(s):

The IHS LRP application cycle begins October 1 and runs through the Friday of the second full week of August. Applications are evaluated monthly beginning in January, or as soon as funds become available.

The LRP awards up to $20,000 per year.
