Additional Application Requirements

Items that MUST be submitted on VSAS
  • Step 1 scores, if you do not have official documentation of your scores-please submit a letter on school letterhead verifying your scores.
  • BLS or ACLS card
  • Letter of intent stating why you want to do the elective you are applying for and the discipline you are pursuing, you must submit a letter for each department you are applying to.
  • You must have a letter of recommendation for each department you are applying to, written by someone from the department at your school speaking to your skills and strengths. Please have your letter writer submit your letter to the coordinator at your school who can upload it confidentiality

If these things are not submitted on VSAS you will NOT be considered for a rotation at OHSU.

Additional Application Information

  • All core clerkships must be completed. If your school does not require you to complete the courses we consider core clerkships, please submit a letter stating that on letterhead.
  • We do not have room to take students outside of our normal rotation dates
  • You must submit your application at least one month in advance to be considered for a rotation
  • If your application is not complete after one week of the original submission date you will receive an email stating you have one week to complete the requirements, if you do not meet the deadline you will not be considered
  • Departments may have supplemental forms that they will need you to fill out if you are interested in applying with their department

Acceptance/Cancellation Information
  • Accepted Students: The registration fee of $75 is non-refundable and must be received within 10 days of your acceptance. Failure to submit this fee will result in the withdrawal/expiration of the offer. Internal medicine requires an additional $75 fee.
  • If you can no longer attend an elective which you have accepted, you must notify the Visiting Student Coordinator via email no later than 4 weeks prior to your start date. The Visiting Student Coordinator will then notify the department that you cannot attend. No re-scheduling of electives is permitted. If you fail to notify the Visiting Student Coordinator at least 4 weeks prior to your start date. OHSU will withdraw you from any future scheduled elective and your home school will be notified.
