Eligible Specialties:

Primary Care Practitioners: (Family Practice, General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Ob/GYN & Psychiatry) Practictioners employed in a primary care setting include (MD or DO), Hospitalists, Nurses, Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, LPN's, RN's, Certified Nurse Mid-Wives, Dentists and Nurse Educators/Faculty.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Must serve one year for each year of funding and comply with service requirements as outlined in annual Program Overview available from the Vermont Department of Health or University of Vermont AHEC.

Who Can Apply:

Must be a Vermont resident or plan to become a Vermont resident prior to disbursement of funds (if applying to or being recruited into a new position in Vermont) For Dentists, Vermont residency is not required while attending dental school.

Repayment/Scholarship terms:

Must agree to contract for one-year service commitment. See Program Overview available from the Vermont Department of Health or University of Vermont AHEC for more details.

Amount of repayment per year of service:

Up to $10,000. for LPN's, RN's and up to $20,000 for Primary Care Practitioners Eligible Disciplines (MD's, DO's, PA's, NP's, CNM's, Dentists and Nurse Educator/Faculty

Single application for FREEMAN Educational Loan Repayment Program and Vermont State Educational Loan Repayment Programs. In addition to Loan Repayment programs outlined above, the State of Vermont offers a Scholarship Incentive/Loan Forgiveness Program for students enrolled in health care training.
