Practice as a family physician in an eligible community (population of 10,000 or less, determined to need and be able to sustain an FP) for at least 3 consecutive years.

Licensed as physician in SD; completed a 3 year allopathic residency or 2 year osteopathic residency in family practice.

Practitioners must enter into a contract with the South Dakota Department of Health in order to qualify.

Amount of repayment per year of service:
|
The amount of tuition reimbursement for a qualifying physician is equal to double the University of South Dakota SOM's resident tuition for the most recent 4-year period. The current amount is approximately $100,000.
