Eligible Specialties:

General internal medicine; family practice medicine; general pediatrics; obstetrics/gynecology; gynecology; and general psychiatry.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

You must sign and return a promissory note agreeing to serve full-time as a primary care physician in an underserved area in Maryland for a period of two to four years. You must have graduated from a college in Maryland or from a medical school. If you are a physician, you must have a valid unrestricted license to practice primary care medicine in Maryland and work in an approved underserved area in Maryland.

Who Can Apply:

Primary care physicians and medical residents in a residency program specializing in primary care and general psychiatry.

Amount of repayment per year of service:

Physicians will receive between $25,000 and $30,000 per year, depending on the length of their service commitment. The total award to medical residents may not exceed $25,000.

How to Apply:

Complete and file a LARP-PCS application available from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH).

Additional Information/Comments:

You may re-apply for this award after completion of the service obligation. Recipient's total award amount cannot exceed $120,000.
