Eligible Specialties:

Residents in Family Practice, General Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Medicine/Pediatrics residency programs operated in the State of Kansas and approved by the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):

Residents who are accepted into the program must sign a practice commitment agreement with an appropriate entity or organization, such as a hospital, physician group or community foundation in a rural kansas community. In this agreement, the organization

Who Can Apply:

Residents in FP, GIM, Pediatrics, and Medicine/Pediatrics residency programs operated in the State of KS and approved by the KS State Board of Healing Arts are eligible to apply for the KS Bridging Plan Loan. Residents must have completed one year of post-graduate training in their primary care specialty; must complete a one-month rural rotation during their residency program; and must be eligible for an unrestricted KS license in order to receive the loan.

The KS Bridging Plan loans up to $10,000 to qualified residents. The community selected by the resident physician agrees to loan a matching amount, plus an additional $6,000 upon completion of residency training, in exchange for a practice commitment of 3
