Eligible Specialties:
|
All specialties are eligible to apply, however applicants are ranked by specialty in the following order: General Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology or Family Medicine with OB, General Surgery, General Psychiatry, General Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine.

Service Requirements (formerly Service Stipulation):
|
For one year of funding, physicians must practice full time for one year in a Board-approved Georgia county of 35,000 or less according to the most recent U.S. census.
|
|
Who Can Apply:
|
Physicians who are U.S. Citizens, graduated from an accrediated U.S. medical school, are practicing full time in a qualifying area and agree to accept and actively treat Medicaid and Medicare patients are eligible to apply.
|

Deadline(s):
|
The deadline for application submission is November 1st of each year. Applications are reviewed at the December Board meeting.
|
|
Repayment/Scholarship terms:
|
One year of practice for one year of funding. Physicians who accept the funding and fail to complete their obligation are immediately liable for two times the uncredited obligation.
|
|
Amount of repayment per year of service:
|
Physicians who qualify are eligible to receive up to $25,000 per year for a maximum of 4 years.
|
