News: March 2010

Like traditional print-based journal publications MedEdPORTAL employs a peer review process to evaluate all submissions. Two external reviewers are invited to
review all MedEdPORTAL submissions using a standardized peer review form. Out of the 7,600 resources that have been submitted to MedEdPORTAL since
2005, only 6% have been accepted as is. Approximately 68% of submissions require revisions (based on reviewer feedback) before they are accepted. Roughly
26% of submissions are rejected.

There are a variety of steps that authors may take to improve their chance of being accepted. Chief among these are reading and following the MedEdPORTAL
submission instructions. Other suggestions include well-formed educational objectives that match the educational content of the submission, a complete
submission form, well-organized content, and clear writing throughout all materials. Authors are encouraged to use the submission form to make a case that the
submission represents a compelling scholarly work as defined by the MedEdPORTAL Peer-Review Form (internal link).
