Publication Instructions
The MedEdPORTAL peer reviewed logo is considered a special mark of distinction that is recognized in the academic health community as an indicator of quality. Successfully published MedEdPORTAL resources that are hosted externally (not hosted on MedEdPORTAL servers) are required to display the MedEdPORTAL peer reviewed logo on the external websites and resources notifying users that the resources were successfully peer reviewed and published through MedEdPORTAL. In addition, the authors must display next to the logo the formal NLM or APA MedEdPORTAL publication citation with the direct link to the publication abstract page in MedEdPORTAL. The NLM and APA publication citations are found at the end of each MedEdPORTAL publication abstract page. The MedEdPORTAL logo must hyperlink to the MedEdPORTAL homepage (www.aamc.org/mededportal). An example is as follows:
We strongly discourage published authors from updating or modifying externally hosted websites/resources after they have been formally peer reviewed and published in MedEdPORTAL. However, if it is necessary to update the website after publication, the authors MUST document next to the peer reviewed logo and citation the dates the changes were made to the resource and the extent of those changes. Example of how to document an updated Web site:
