Effectiveness and Significance of Publication:
| This resource allows medical students to review proper technique of the pediatric exam and increase their confidence in performing pediatric assessments. This program provides a valuable teaching resource for clinical skills courses and pediatric and family medicine clerkships. |
Special Implementation Requirements or Guidelines:
Quicktime must be installed on the user's computer for the video to display properly. It is available for free at www.apple.com/quicktime It is also recommended that this program be used in conjunction with textbooks and lectures to support clinical correlation of pathology with physical exam findings. |
Lessons Learned:
| Students are often overwhelmed when trying to remember the components and technique of the physical examination while assimilating physical exam findings into a clinical picture. This tutorial has minimized emphasis on abnormal findings and pathology so that students may focus on polishing their technique and gaining confidence without being overwhelmed. |
